On Wednesday, 11th February 2021, Southern Region Water Board and Northern Region Water Board signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Twinning Program between the two institutions which will run for the next three years (2021-2024). The program involves staff exchange visits for a period of time aiming at sharing knowledge, information and skills to improve service delivery of the two institutions.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer for SRWB Mr Duncan Chambamba acknowledged the benefits of the previous MOU and Exchange Program such as improvements for both institutions in areas such as; Information Communication Technology ICT, Customer Services Delivery, Reduction of Non-Revenue Water, Management and Protection of Catchment Areas among others. He added that the staff exchange period will be extended from the current two weeks staff visit to one month period to allow enough time of cooperating and exchange of experiences.
The Boards’ Chairman of the both institutions appreciated the initiative saying it has proved that “we are not enemies nor competitors but rather one family that need to be complementing each other’s efforts”. The both Water Boards pledged continued support to the initiative.
The event took place at Sun Bird Ku Chawe, Zomba and was attended by delegates from the both water Boards.
